If you want to try something fun, try this out! Today I had the pleasure of trying speed dating for the first time with two of my close girl friends. Imagine getting to meet twenty or so people (sometimes more) of the opposite sex in less then an hour. The atmosphere was great, the people were really cool, and the whole event was a lot of fun.
For those of you who might be shy, there were note cards on all of the tables with questions you could ask the other people such as “If you were an ice cream, what flavor would you be?” or “If your life were made into a movie, who would you want to play you?” and things like that.
When you first arrive at the event, you are given a sticker to wear that has your name and a number that has been assigned to you. Everyone is then broken into groups of about five, and the men would move around from table to table, speaking to all of the different women. After each date, if you liked the person you spoke to, you would write down their name, number, and mark “Yes” that you would like to see them again. If they did the same, you will both be emailed with each other’s email addresses.
All in all, I thought it was a blast. It’s a great easy way to meet so many cool people. If I ever move to a new city and don’t know anyone, speed dating here I come! Also, if you want to get really good at practicing your social skills, this is an easy way to do it. You have a ton of people to work with, many of which you’ll never see again (unless of course you both liked each other).
